Anthropology of Habitat
The Anthropology of Habitat module aims to introduce architecture students to the cultural, social, symbolic, and behavioral understanding of inhabited space. It is based on an interdisciplinary approach combining anthropology, sociology, environmental psychology, and architecture, in order to go beyond a strictly technical or formal view of housing. Habitat is not considered merely as a constructed object, but as a total social fact, shaped by ways of life, value systems, rituals, power relations, and collective identities. This module prepares students to design spaces adapted to uses, cultures, and social practices, while developing their critical thinking regarding universalizing models of contemporary architecture.
