
Histoire de l'Architecture 1
This annual module is divided into two semesters. In the first semester, students will explore the earliest human habitats of the prehistoric era, the architectural achievements of antiquity, the Middle Ages, and the Renaissance. The second semester focuses on architecture in Islamic lands, examining its key characteristics, as well as its similarities and differences across regions and periods.
At the end of this module, the student will be able to :
- Define architecture,
- Analyze historical buildings,
- Identify the main features of each architecture,
- Understand architectural atmospheres (light, sound, etc) and traditional construction techniques.
- Identify what are the factors that influence architecture (religious, social, political, environmental etc.)
- Build up a repertoire of ideas and references to stimulate creativity,
- Gasp the importance of architectural history and critically examine the link between present-day achievements and those of the past.
- Think critically: observe, analyse, compare, etc.
